Keys to Great Skin

Healthy skin is aesthetically smooth, has consistent color, and is well hydrated. Achieving healthy skin requires following a consistent routine of external and internal habits.

The keys to great skin are hydration, staying active, antioxidants, exfoliation, and uninterrupted sleep. Below, we've detailed what you'll need to achieve healthy skin and why each of them is so important to reaching your skincare goals. Please allow our skincare wellness center to be your guide.

Stay Active

Look to add regular workouts into your daily routine. Getting to yoga or spin class can positively affect your skin, mood, and body because a workout increases circulation, creating that great glow once it's done. In addition, working up a sweat can help lower the stress hormone cortisol, which is linked not only to skin aging but also breakouts and clogged pores.

While working out, the blood vessels in the skin dilate. As one of the skin's primary functions is to regulate heat, the dilation brings warm blood to the surface, expelling body heat into the air and resulting in a glowy flush.

A blood flow boost ensures your skin gets the oxygen and nutrients needed to be healthy. Your brain and core organs are blood's priority, whereas your skin is barely an afterthought. So having blood filled with necessary nutrients reaching your skin in the morning means it can begin the day healthy as well.

Hydrate

Hydration is a crucial component of keeping your skin luminous. You should consume water daily to rejuvenate your skin and help keep it moisturized from within. Do not wait until you are overly thirsty to drink water. Also, while keeping active, you should consume more water than the recommended eight glasses (8-ounce) to replace whatever is sweating out.

For those finding it difficult to consume the recommended amount of water, adding a bit of flavor may help. Infusing your water with fruit, vegetables, or herbs can add flavor and provide additional nutrients for your skin.

Dehydration can cause your skin to sag, dry out, and become dull. We suggest that your face and skin routine contain skin products that have hydrating formulas. Waiting too long to apply moisturizer after using a cleanser is one of the biggest skincare mistakes people can make.

Whether it's face or body lotion, time is of the essence. You have only a short window after applying a cleanser to put on a hydrating product like our Apricot Seed Body Butter, before the skin's moisture starts to evaporate.

Allowing your skin to completely dry, especially after long, hot showers, will enable the moisture in your skin to expel from your pores. Long showers will strip natural oils from your skin, so letting your skin dry will help your skin remain hydrated and fresh. To regulate oil production we recommend applying CBD facial oils and CBD skin care products, like our Suver Haze Bar, to regulate hydration.

Antioxidants

A balanced diet is essential to provide your skin with the necessary vitamins. However, it's not the only way. Topical antioxidants exist and can be applied to nourish the skin. Add an antioxidant serum or antioxidant-rich soap, like our Elderberry & Hibiscus with Lavender bar, to your daily routine. Doing so will reduce UV light's effects on your skin's health when layering it atop your SPF.

Vitamins C and E are more likely to repair the damage that UV light inflicts as it occurs. Adding antioxidants to your body will also boost your defense in the fight against aging skin. By applying them right after cleansing, your skin can soak them in and protect against such horrible environmental factors.

Our CBD skin care and CBD facial oils are an excellent choice when you want to cleanse and hydrate your skin. It not only contains antioxidants like Vitamin E, but products like our Suver Haze CBD Oil can also act as a pain-reducing agent and stress reliever and provide a calming effect.

Exfoliate

We lose fifty million skin cells daily, and without an extra push, they may linger, making our skin appear sullen. Once or twice a week, gentle exfoliation can help remove dead skin and reveal a glowy, rejuvenated finish. This goes for the skin on your face as well as your body. Choosing a pH-neutral product will help to exfoliate without drying out your skin.

Aging slows the skin cell turnover process allowing dead skin cells to build up on your face and body. The results are clogged pores and a dull complexion. A strict routine can diminish these results and help reduce the effects that aging has on our skin.

Sleep

Resting and receiving the recommended eight hours of uninterrupted sleep a night is crucial for skin repair. The skin repairs itself while you sleep and allows your body to become fully rested. This requires you to put away all distractions, unplug from your gadgets, and shut down.

Using regularly cleaned silk sheets and pillowcases can also benefit the skin. The material makes it easier for your skin to glide across the surface, preventing wrinkles and creases.

The benefits are not limited to long-term cases. In fact, you can see results as early as the following morning–the more uninterrupted sleep you receive, the more time your skin has to rejuvenate itself. The opposite can happen if you get too little sleep.

Not getting enough sleep can raise cortisol levels resulting in a boost to collagen breakdown. This can cause under-eye bags, puffiness, and dark circles to appear. Yawning and squinting can also serve to break down collagen and cause under-eye issues as well.
