Charlotte Business Journal Profiles JLS

Updated: Jul 24

This publication came from a conversation with David Taylor, president, and CEO of the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture. from a conversation in 2020 surrounding what was happening in our nation and our city. In Charlotte Business Journal Profiles, editorial coverage they strive to focus on minority and Black-owned businesses, and wanted something different with this publication. This is the fourth year of this series, and CBJ promises will be a continued focus for the Charlotte Business Journal moving forward. I had the pleasure of interviewing with Laura, and being photographed by Grant at my home in Cornelius for this editorial.

I have had a very close and rather intimate relationship with Chanel and David over at the Gantt for years. A lot of people don't realize, they married Joe and I at the Gantt in 2018, and they very kindly and graciously memorialized Joe later in 2022. Our first entry into retail is really all because of Chanel and everybody there. That was my first opportunity to get my feet wet in retail. I am really grateful to have been considered by David for this feature and collaboration with the Charlotte Business Journal. Even more so for my continued relationship and vendor partnership at the museum and cultural center. Take a look at the interview and write-up with me below!!
